Understand pH

pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured
on a scale of 0 to 14—the lower the pH the more acidic the solution, the higher
the pH the more alkaline the solution. When a solution is neither acid nor
alkaline it has a pH of 7 which is neutral.

Acid Alkaline Unbalance

Our body’s balance between acidity and alkalinity is referred to as
acid-base balance. Body acidity increases when the level of acidic compounds in
our body rises (through increased intake or production, or decreased
elimination) or when the level of basic (alkaline) compounds in our body falls
(through decreased intake or production, or increased elimination). Body
alkalinity increases with the reverse of these processes.
The kidneys and lungs in our body maintain our body’s acid/base (pH) balance.
Acidosis is an increase of acidity in our body,usually refers to acidity of the
blood plasma. Acidosis occurs when arterial pH falls below 7.35, while its
alkalosis occurs at a pH over 7.45. Arterial blood gas analysis and other tests
are required to separate the main causes.
The rate of cellular metabolic activity affects and, at the same time, is affected by the pH of the body fluids. Healthy human-arterial blood pH varies between 7.35 and 7.45. Blood pH values are limited between 6.8 and 7.8.

Changes in the pH of arterial blood outside this range result in irreversible cell
damage.

Symptom of Acidosis 

• Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction of blood vessels and the
reduction of oxygen.
Weight gain, obesity and
diabetes.

Bladder and kidney
conditions, including kidney stones.

A healthy body maintains adequate alkaline reserves to meet emergency
demands. Most people who suffer from unbalanced pH are acidic. This condition
forces the body to borrow minerals—including calcium, sodium, potassium and
magnesium—from vital organs and bones to neutralize the acid and removes it
safely from the body. Because of this strain, the body can suffer severe and
prolonged damage due to high acidity—a condition that may go undetected for
years.

According to research cancer thrives in an acidic environment and not in a normal, more alkaline environment. When you have cancer, your pH levels are low and your body is too acidic. The blood, lymph and cerebral spinal fluid in the human body are designed to be slightly alkaline at a pH of 7.4. Cancer cells become dormant at a pH slightly above 7.4 and will die at pH8.5 while healthy cells will live.

Be Careful of Your Acidic Diet

Acidosis is very common in our society and it is mostly due to our diet:

  • far too high in
    acid-producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy
  • far too low in
    alkaline-producing foods like fresh vegetables.
  • acid-producing processed
    foods like white flour and sugar
  • acid-producing beverages like
    coffee and soft drinks.
  • too many drugs are
    acid-forming
  • artificial chemical
    sweeteners like NutraSweet, Equal, or aspartame , which are extremely
    acid-forming.

One of the best things we can do to correct an overly-acid body is to clean
up the diet and lifestyle.

Note that a food’s acid or alkaline-forming tendency in the body has nothing
to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example, lemons are very
acidic, however the end-products they produce after digestion and assimilation
are very alkaline so lemons are alkaline-forming in the body. Likewise, meat
will test alkaline before digestion but it leaves very acidic residue in the
body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is very acidic.

  1. Water is not only important , it is essential solvent of all biochemical reactions in our metabolism. Quantity and Quality about the water we consume are extreme fundamental if we want iour bodies work properly for years!!

  2. thinking that tea,coffe,alcohol,sport drinks and coke can susbstitute for the pure matural water needs of the body is an elementary mistake. All of these contain dehydrating substances .
